          Description

          Gymnocactus gielsdorfianus is a member of the Cactaceae family. It is a native of Mexico. The cactus is characterized by a solitary stem that is either globose or cylindrical. Its color ranges from bluish to greyish to yellow-green. The stem is covered with blackish spine tips that are surrounded by a dense white woolly coat growing up to a height of 7cm. In the summer season, the plant is covered with funnel-shaped creamy white flowers. It is a fast-growing cactus but goes dormant during winter. It can withstand slight frost and needs strong to partial sunlight for healthy growth. The other name referred to this species is Turbinicarpus gielsdorfianus.
